Willingham Family Pictures in Boone, NC

A few weeks ago, we went camping with one of our favorite families--the Willinghams! They live in Boone, and it was so fun to be able to spend a weekend at a campground in the shadow of Grandfather Mountain. We hung out by the fire, played in the river, went on walks in the woods, and somehow managed to squeeze in a photo shoot. (I think Ashley is a rockstar for getting ready for a photo shoot in a campground bathhouse!)

These kids and their parents are some of my favorite people on earth, and I always love doing their family pictures!

Zach and Cayley's Engagement Pictures in Hendersonville, NC

Zach and Cayley met me at Jump Off Rock in Hendersonville for their engagement pictures. They'd spent the day on the river and had a truck full of fishing equipment when they pulled up.

We climbed some rocks and dodged some crowds for these pictures, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Jump Off Rock is a beautiful spot, and I found out during our session that it was the place where they got engaged. I can't imagine a more picturesque location for such a huge life event!

Zach and Cayley are sweet, laid back, and pleasant to be around. I'm so excited for the future they have together--congratulations, you two!

Warren Family Pictures in Mills River, NC

The first photography session I had with the Warren family was for maternity pictures in Mills River, NC, when Katie was pregnant with little Levi. We got together again for his newborn pictures, and a few weeks ago, I was excited to take his one-year pictures. I love being able to look back over all the pictures I have of this kid--he has changed so much in the past year!

This session focused mostly on him, but of course we managed to get a few of his beautiful big sister, and some family pictures, too.

Happy (belated) first birthday, little guy!

Erin & Phillip's Blue Ridge Parkway Proposal

Proposals always get to me. I tear up and smile and get all melty every time I see a man drops down on his knee and pulls a ring box out of his pocket.

You could say I'm a bit of a romantic.

So when my sister's boyfriend let me know that was planning to propose, and that he was going to let me take pictures, I was ecstatic. I've never photographed a proposal before, but being able to watch my little sister get engaged to the man that she loves? There have been few moments in my life I've looked forward to more than this.

Phillip let me know that he was going to have Erin at their favorite overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway by 7:00. He brought me a card he'd written to put out on a table with her favorite roses, and the plan was set in motion.

My younger sister Brandi and I waited for them to get there, hidden as well as we could be, hearts jumping every time we heard a car.

We watched as they pulled in to the parking area. They got out of the car, and Phillip took Erin's hand and led her to the card and flowers.

(This is where my words end--the rest of the story is theirs, and it's best told through pictures.)

Congratulations to my sister and future brother-in-law. I am so happy to have been a small part of this occasion, and I can't wait to get to see them begin their lives together.
